It may look that we want to bring some hype by showing an image of Flixxo running on an iPhone… But the good news is that we have sent a proof of concept of Flixxo’s iOS and Android versions to both app stores for their approval. What does that mean? It means that, even though we have been dealing with a lot challenges to implement our technology on mobile platforms, we have succeeded on playing videos from our BitTorrent network and integrating the payments with the desktop app. Now that we were able to interact with our network on both OS, we have set up two teams to complete the development while we wait for good news. And, even though we are very confident that they will approve the apps, we know that BitTorrent is a protocol that — because of a lack of understanding on the technology — may bring red flags for the stores.
On the other hand, some improvements were made from version 0.33.1 that will be available on version 0.33.2 — later this week. These improvements include:
- Modify metadata of uploaded videos.
- Fixed bugs on stats, both on Creator and Seeder dashboards.
- Show state of videos being uploaded (moderation status, % of uploading)
- Pause and delete uploaded videos.
- UX/UI fixes.
- Video sorting in seeder dashboard.
- Seeding stats on your own content in Creator dashboard.
Meanwhile, behind the scenes, our team has been working hard implementing the “Serialized content” UX-UI for uploading and playing series. Even though these features have already been functional in our staging environment, they wont be implemented in production until we finalize uploading and testing content. Right now the team is working on the subtitles interface and bringing multiple languages to the platform. Once we have completed these tasks, everything will see the light of day in production.
We know our community is eager of news on the development, but a lot of our work is focused into engaging the content community. Once we have the platform ready for a mainstream adoption, it is going to be quality content the difference between reaching a critical mass of users or staying into the small niche of crypto fans. And we have chosen web series — or short form series — to differentiate our platform from the competitors.
This is a fact: Flixxo is the only blockchain based video platform that — although it lets any content to be uploaded — is actively looking for videos that go beyond user generated content, and has a disruptive approach on how to bring that content to the platform. We are not a crypto version of YouTube, nor a blockchain version of Netflix. We are something totally new.
