Festivals’ season has already started! We missed the Oscars ceremony, but we wanted to make sure we were part in the most compelling list of events of the year. The journey started at BA Web Festival, the web series festival of Buenos Aires. There we had the opportunity to meet the creators of amazing projects and share thoughts with other platforms’ teams.

Flixxo CEO, Adrian Garelik, sharing platform’s panel with Cine.ar, UN3.TV and FWTV.TV

After three days of meetings with content producers, learning from their necessities and hearing about their production and distribution challenges, we have committed more than 300 hours of quality content on web series straight away for our platform’s release the first week of June! And we will be participating in the next Marseille Web Fest — the biggest event for web series in the world — next October right after MIP COM in Cannes.

Back to MIP, we have been invited to speak about how Blockchain will disrupt the audiovisual content industries at MIP TV — the global TV and digital content market, attended by more than 10,000 key players in the industry. The panel opens four days of exhibitions and conferences, if you are around save the date: April 9th 10:30hs Palais des Festivals, Auditorium A, Palais 3.

We are aiming into bringing awareness about the potential of Blockchain for developing new opportunities to the entertainment industries, so we are focusing our promotion efforts into reaching key players of the industry in these kind of events.

Team

Seven developers are working full time on the platform, led by Javier D’Ovidio and Pablo Carbajo. UX is being supervised by Federico Abad. Adrian Garelik is still developing new relationships and business opportunities with the awesome collaboration of Facundo de la Iglesia, and we have improved our communication efforts by adding Francisco Stengel and Milagros Zelarrayan to the PR team, along with Olha Rymar and Amazix team still doing their magic in the social channels. Regarding content creators’ onboarding, Sergio Sosa will be leading our endeavors starting next week. April finds Flixxo with a team of 16 professionals working hard on the project, and an incredible community supporting us on Reddit and Flixxo trading channel.

Development

We are in time with platforms’ development and fully committed on delivering the desktop version of the platform by the first week of June. We’ve seen a lot of progress on the UX/UI and the BitTorrent side is being tested using YIFY’s tracker — what turned Flixxo into an improved version of Popcorn Time for a while, until we move into our own tracker later this week.

What’s next

After MIP TV, part of our team is traveling again to Los Angeles with a full agenda, meeting YouTubers which are no longer happy with YouTube. Furthermore, we are strengthening our bonds with some of the most renowned studios in Hollywood. We have found a potential on Web Series, which on one hand is a format that fits our technical needs for this stage of the platform and, in the other hand, is turning into a worldwide trendy and amazing source of quality content, and we are in conversations with some studios and independent producers to potentially start developing original content for Flixxo. On the development side everything goes on time, and we will be sharing more screens of the platform soon!
